THE LEGEND OF THE KEVLAR COYOTE

By Swamprat

It happened in Alberta's cold
At least that how the story's told
Of three brave hunters out that day
And of the one that got away.

Swamprat, Tag, and Randy too
Together made a motley crew
Were driving down a road and there
A coyote stood with icy stare

Swamprat told Randy "stop this truck
That there's one coyote that better duck
'Cause if he don't I'll have his hide"
Swamprat said with a hint of pride.

Randy stopped it with a jolt
as Swamprat calmly worked his bolt
A fresh new round had found its home
"Don't worry boys this wont take long."

He left that truck, wind in his hair
That coyote still a standin' there
Crosshairs had settled on its chest
As Swamprat quickly took his rest

At the shot that yote went down
Did the funky chicken round and round
His leg went high into the air
Then quivered once and settled there.

Tag said you got him sure enough
Let's go and put him in the truck
Ole Swamprat happy as can be
Walked out to claim his fur tro--phy

What happened next is hard to tell
That coyote must come straight from hell
Jumped up and ran right out of there
Left his blood, feces and hair

Swamprat could not believe his eyes
And Randy said "dont worry guys"
"He can't go far" thats what Tag said
"Cause we all know he must be dead."

They never found a single trace
Swamprat had egg all on his face
"I need a bigger gun he said"
Cause the ki-yo-tie should be dead."

The Varmint Hunters still talk today
About the one that got away
Been seen from Maine to Mexico
Anywhere the Varmint Hunters go.

Its something that I can't forget
I'll never hear the end of it
Old Lunker and Ole Solo too
They'll bring it up and make me blue.

And 'round their fires they'll tell their tales
Of great big bucks with flags for tails
But theres one tale they'll never best
Of the coyote with the Kevlar vest.
